Knox Dems Calls on GOP Trustee Justin Biggs to Resign
Report alleges Biggs’ office wasted more than $200,000 on trucks and high-end hotels.
KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (April 14, 2025) – The Knox County Democratic Party issues the following statement in response to reports Republican Trustee Justin Biggs allegedly mishandled taxpayer dollars:
“If the Knox County Republican Party wants to find waste and abuse, they can start investigating their own elected officials. The Tennessee Comptroller alleges Knox County Trustee Justin Biggs’ office wasted more than $200,000 in taxpayer funds on unnecessary county vehicles and expensive hotel rooms. Biggs—who campaigned on trust—should lose the trust of all Knox County residents for this alleged waste and abuse in the office he manages. He should resign immediately before voters fire him in 2026.
The hardworking people of Knox County have been making sacrifices—hoping for some economic relief in the face of Trump’s tariffs—and are now learning that the employees of the county’s bank are allegedly throwing money away. We must hold our leaders to the highest standards, and ensure that our taxpayer money is being spent appropriately.”
The report on the investigation dropped days after Biggs announced his intent to run for re-election in 2026. The Knox County Democratic Party will field a qualified candidate committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of Knox County’s tax dollars to run for Knox County Trustee.
