Knox Dems Chair Critical of GOP Trustee Justin Biggs for Fundraiser, Calls for Funds to be Reimbursed

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Feb. 25, 2025)--Stuart Hohl, Chair of the Knox County Democratic Party issues the following statement in response to Republican Trustee Justin Biggs’ upcoming fundraiser, which remains scheduled while being investigated for allegedly mishandling taxpayer dollars:

“GOP Trustee Justin Biggs’ decision to hold an expensive fundraiser at the new Smokies’ stadium, while being investigated for alleged corruption, is an insult to the people of Knox County. The right thing for Trustee Biggs to do is to resign, cancel this fundraiser and drop his re-election efforts. Investigative reporters have already identified more than $200,000 in alleged waste, fraud and abuse under his watch. The money spent on this fundraiser should instead be used to start repaying taxpayers for the damage done under his leadership.”

The Knox County Democratic Party will field a strong candidate who will fight this alleged corruption, which seems ingrained in the longtime Republican control of this office.
